Successful people look tired. Well not so much tired as downright frazzled. It takes them a moment or two to remember the dog’s name, let alone their children’s ages. You ask them how they are and they rattle off in a dazed stupor – “Busy… wow… you know – really, really busy.” Whatever happened to “Fine… thanks for asking. How about you?” The successful people are the ones who pace at the airport or local Starbucks hooked up to their Star Trek Spock-like ears buying, selling, delegating, or pleading. They usually have the latest Wall Street Journal, Business Week or daily financials in tow lest they risk the possibility that they were not present to bear witness to every market hiccup, cough or cold.
Smith will miss the start of training camp, which begins July 28 at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, but may be ready to play in the Sept. 12 regular season NFL opener.
I consider myself a friendly person, and subsequently have met literally hundreds of wives over the years. We will sit for coffee, have play dates with the kids, chat on the net, converse on the phone and most of the chatter is over the children and the husbands. I tend to listen more than talk; I like to observe more than participate; I think it is just my nature.
If one parent stops working how can they pay these expenses? Working at home can help families make extra money. This could be just a little bit. Every little bit helps.
The drills of the past? Some things linger and sometimes the terminology remains but the practice defined is different. Unfortunately, drills has remained firmly entrenched in our lexicon. The military connotations notwithstanding, the word drills should be put to bed once and for all. In fact, one of the coaching methods I am currently carrying is called 205 Drills! UGH! But the guy is good and he has some really helpful strategies. Do I think it could be better? Yes! Are there better programs out there? Not many! So, until we do, we read, learn, study, and share. That’s what the soccer community is all about and I am certain it will continue to be that way for the foreseeable future anyway.
Every coach in youth football has a responsibility to the kids first. It is about the experience that those kids are having and making sure that it is a positive one. The love of the game needs to be developed and while each kid isn’t going to go on and play high school or college football, each one of them will have an experience that is unique to them that they will never forget.
There’s a HUGE difference between excellence and perfection. Frankly, the One who was perfect gave His life for the rest of us who could never hit the mark.
Now, when God sees us, He sees that Perfect One. Because of the bloody Cross at Calvary, we are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Cor 5:21). That means you are holy. It’s as if you’ve never sinned. Justified. Sanctified. Your sins are as white as sow. You’ve been bought with at a great Price.
